Sally McKinney, 50, F NC
----------------------
from McKinneygenweb.com
William is son of Daniel McInnish and Sarah Weathers -- I'd like to see
some proof.
------------------------------
Per the book "The McKinney Family" by Mildred McKinney Kee
Mary "Polly" McKinney (b.4/2/1788) was a daughter of William McKinney
(05/06/1766 -10/31/1857) and his wife Amy Willis McKinney (06/21/1764 -
before 1850). Polly married Robert Jones (b.02/25/1790) in 1807 in
Rutherford Co, NC.
Ms. Kee also tells us William McKinney was a son Daniel McKinney (AKA
Donald McInnish, Jr) b.09/15/1742 and died c 1835, and his wife Sarah
Weathers McKinney. She indicates William was born in Sussex Co, VA, and
Amy was born in Franklin Co, NC. Although she gives no location for
William & Amy's 08/17/1783 marriage, she lists the first three of
their eight children as having been born in Franklin Co, NC. She only
lists two siblings for William, Seth & Rebecca. Seth (b.1780)
married Jane Merchant & died in 1865 in Grainger, TN. Rebecca
(no birthdate given) married George Julian in Mecklenburg Co, NC,
04/09/1791. As these three children were born so far apart, there are
probably other siblings.

William MCKINNEY b. 6 MAY 1766 Sussex Co., VA d. 31 OCT 1857
Lattimore, Cleveland Co., NC, Buried Willis McKinney Cemetery.
Cleveland, N.C. Served as a Pvt. from Rutherford Co., NC in the
Revolutionary War as a substitute for his father He went to Warrington,
Hillsboro, Salisbury and on to Charleston. William states that he
returned home to Franklin Co in 1783, thus indicating his parents were
still there and soon after married Amy Duggard. [It appears that this
person had seen his pension application - does anyone have a copy?]
There was a marriage bond for Betsy Dugger and William McKinney in
1817, but this was William H, McKinney, son of this William.
